2009 Rock Reef Project

Under the direction of CLPA Director Walter Wozniak, the Chetek Lakes Protection Association in partnership with Walleyes For Tomorrow and the Department Of Natural Resources, installed a rock reef fish habitat on Saturday March 14th.

Tons of rock were set in place on the ice along the Eastern side of Prairie Lake (see website for GPS location). The sheer weight of the rocks and high temperatures on Saturday and Sunday caused the rocks to sink to the bottom in 17 hours.  Rock reefs provide a fish habitat for fish and a possible spawning area. A special thank you to Mr. Lee Romsos for donating the massive amount of rocks for this project.

The following individuals participated in this project:

Jeremy Sikorski
Tod Gerland
Russ Fell
Steve Arnevik
